How to Help Employees in Spite of Inflation

With an impending recession and inflation driving prices higher than ever, employers can be proactive in supporting employees with inflation bonuses. This type of bonus is intended to give workers relief from the rising costs of everyday items, and can include a temporary increase in employees’ compensation, as well as a smaller form of support such as giving out gift cards that can cover things like gas and groceries.

It’s unknown how long the inflation will last, so employers should take multiple steps to help their workforce survive throughout this challenging time. It’s important to remember that many employees can’t afford what they could just six months ago. Tango Card, a company specializing in rewards, helps employers make small but significant rewards possible for employees. They offer everything from food delivery site gift cards to Office Depot gift cards for employers to give to their staff.

With 73% of HR professionals indicating inflation to be a major concern within their company, support for staff is anything but uniform across industries and organizations. However, this is expected to change once more employers realize they have to continue to retain and attract talent, with our unstable labor market still at hand. Companies need to be proactive about how they support their employees. First, are you providing a job that’s enjoyable to your staff? And secondly, how are you compensating your workforce effectively?

The federal reserve is expecting an interest-rate hike again in November, so it’s uncertain as to when the economic climate will improve. Employers should be providing positive incentives to employees, along with bonuses to help them weather the storm. Otherwise, employees are likely to leave to find employers offering better financial support.
